Founded in 2000 by author and coach Maggie Oman Shannon, The New Story is dedicated to exploring, articulating, and expanding the ways in which we can truly author our lives. By doing that--by crafting our best selves and living out the greatest meanings we can envision for our lives (and by paying mindful attention to the ways in which we are being authored)--we can each contribute to a world that is in desperate need of our individual gifts and capabilities.

Maggie Oman Shannon, founder and principal of The New Story, is a life-purpose and creativity coach, spiritual director, and writer with a special interest in practices that nourish the soul. A graduate of Smith College, Oman Shannon is the author of Prayers for Healing and The Way We Pray, and co-author of A String and a Prayer: How to Make and Use Prayer Beads. Her latest book, One God, Shared Hope: Twenty Threads Shared by Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, was published by Red Wheel/Weiser in May 2003.

The former editor of three national magazines, including The Saturday Evening Post, Oman Shannon also served as Director of Marketing for the Institute of Noetic Sciences. Her writing has appeared in publications including Intuition, New Age, Utne Reader, and Beliefnet.com; and her work has been featured in publications ranging from the Miami Herald to Spirituality and Health.

A certified coach who received her training from Coaches Training Institute, Life on Purpose Institute, and the Graduate School of Coaching, Oman Shannon also completed the three-year training program of the Spiritual Directors Institute at Mercy Center in Burlingame, California. She is a member of the International Coach Federation and Spiritual Directors International.
